Logbook Of A Reluctant Dog-Sitter
Day 5: Paws Off The Remote

My nephew’s pup, a Scooby fan,
Would beg and point—a clever plan.
But I stood firm, I made a rule:
"No more cartoons, you silly fool!"
He tried my mom, he tried my sibs,
They played along—no TV bribes!
I tossed a toy, he gave a sigh,
Then chased that squeak right to the sky!
My nephew’s puppy has become a huge fan of Scooby-Doo movies. Where did I go wrong? Now, every time I look over, he’s giving me the puppy-dog eyes and pointing at the TV.
But it stops today—I can’t let him get addicted. Suddenly, I feel like a parent. I rallied the family, and now, whenever he points at the screen, we ignore his adorable pleading face. The clever pup quickly realized I wouldn’t budge after a few attempts, so he tried my mom and younger siblings instead. Thankfully, no one gave in.
As I sat on the sofa studying, I distracted him with a squeaky toy. At first, he played reluctantly, but soon, he was completely into it—running, tossing, catching, and chasing. By lunchtime, he’d found a new favorite pastime.
I thought he deserved a reward, so we planned a little surprise. After dinner, we took him out to the movies—where, of course, they were playing a Scooby-Doo film. Sitting in the cinema with our puppy, we let the movie play. By the end of the day, I could confidently say he enjoyed the film but was no longer obsessed with the TV.
When we got home, my older brother called to say he was coming to pick up the puppy. As we shared stories of our fun adventures with him, we said our goodbyes.
Have you ever taken your pet to the cinema?

This was paws-itively adorable!! Loved the plot twist of a Scooby-Doo cinema trip! Pretty sure the pup played you like a fiddle and won.
Oh wow, I had no idea that pets were allowed at the cinema! Here they're not allowed
I don't think pets are allowed at the cinema in Australia. This story did remind me of my son wanting to watch TV during the day though lol. We always distract him with toys.
Only special needs animals are allowed in public places where I live.
