Lock and Key

Acquiring that which one was lost

By Asher FenixPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I remember how it happened,

So very long ago;

When my heart got locked away,

And was sent way down below.

The key long ago was lost,

Never to be found;

Buried deep within a cave,

A place that swallows sound.

I continued to just live my life,

Unaware of what was wrong;

Convinced I’d never find a place,

Just where my heart would belong.

“How great you were” our friend would say,

Whenever he spoke of your name;

Then I found out sometime later,

About me you heard the same.

Then on the day that we first met,

Be still my beating heart;

You shattered my imagination,

Your beauty was a work of art.

We started to talk more and more,

With each new passing day;

And even though my feelings grew,

I could not stay away.

As I realized what had happened,

It made me want to run;

I don’t know how the key was found,

The chest has been undone.

In the months since that has happened,

To this day our love does grow;

And even though you have to hide it,

Your love for me will always show.

That is why I can’t stop fighting,

And my love I hope you see;

Because you hold my heart forever,

You are ‘The Keeper of my Key.’
