What do I do you say?
Well at a nursing home, I’m an LNA.
A.K.A. Licensed Nursing Aide.
Most think I wipe behinds all day.
And maybe that’s some of it okay?
But there’s so much more to it.
And if you’d only do it.
You’d get a chance to see,
if you spent the day with me,
how I bring these people glee.
I know if they like coffee or tea.
And exactly how creamy.
I know they get lonely,
when missing their homies
and they feel like the only.
They have no family around
and we don’t wanna cut them down.
We help them get around.
to keep from falling down,
For this is their place of safety
as we help them keep their dignity.
This facility is their home,
not our play zone.
We give them our attention,
and do I have to mention?
These people are our elders
and we are their helpers.
We treat them with respect
not like we don’t give a heck.
We need more caring people for this field.
To help get patients fruits peeled.
And to keep them company.
When their days are not sunny.
For one day in this home,
it might be your daddy or mummy.
Or, it might be you honey.
Always remember the golden rule,
even when people drool.
Treat people how you want to be treated,
or else I might start to get heated.
It really is rewarding
to be there supporting
these residents I’m adoring.
