Living With the Silence

I'll never get used to this. An entry for the 'Moment of Silence' Challenge

By Jonathan ApolloPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

Sadness overwhelms me to the point of lost mobility

Independent by default, alone in our home – my home now

Lonely with my thoughts, scared of them becoming reality

Expecting the worst, knowing you can’t save me anymore

No laughter in the halls, no slippers sweeping back and forth, no energy

Crying until my sockets hurt won’t change anything, but I can’t stop

Everything hurts without you here and it always will

Like the phoenix, arise from the ashes, many more mountains to conquer, worlds to explore. Make the silence sing again. great poem nonetheless.

Such a profoundly deep and lingeringly sad poem. Well done.
