Easton noted over Manhattan the sunrise would soon turn the night to day at speed of an optical illusion, like a gradual eclipse

*

Chaucer proclaimed the sun during April with the sweet showers falling, pierced through the March drought to the roots of the plants, the veins bathing in the powerful liquor, as it brought the engendering of flowers, the eclipse offers a reprieve, but a chance for invigorating renewal of all

*

Lewis assured any sunlight over some wood would show something about our sun astronomy can't. Pure and spontaneous pleasures are likened to patches of Godlight. As we gaze at the sun as it disappears from sight, let us keep this in mind.

*

Irving once said the memory of distant friends was sweet like the mellow rays of the departing sun as it falls tenderly, yet sadly on the heart

*

Poe was moved to say that you who still gaze at the glory of the summer sun, when it comes, and when the sun eventually parts, will feel sullen hopelessness in your heart

*

Shakespeare offered the fact though the sun itself is weak when it first rises, gathers its strength and courage through the day. Does the same happen during an eclipse?

*

Eliot proclaimed all things journey, the sun, moon, morning, noon, afternoon, night and stars, twixt the east and western bars, they all journey, the eclipse is part of that journey. All comes and goes, and we too go with them.

*
