Listen To The Voices

Remembering 9/11

By Earl W. PearlPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

I hear whispering voices piercing the night

Over twenty nine hundred in all

Each representing where once was a light

Extinguished by evil and gall

As wicked intentions were soon to begin

A nation awakened to fear

Two buildings would topple as heroes ran in

Each hero, the tip of the spear

“Let’s roll” cried the voices of Flight 93

There’s a wall that remembers each name

“Why?” from the Pentagon’s burning debris

Their plane navigated by shame

“Rush,” said the demons of terror that day

As innocent souls fell asleep

“Hush,” said the angels who whisked them away

“What demons have sown, they will reap”

Gone are the monsters who wallowied in hate

Those original peddlers of sin

“Al-Qaeda came in through a wide open gate”

Cried the whispering voices within

sad poetry
