Lionhearted
When the sun came out after the rain
Followed closely by the rainbow
I was reminded that
Just as grey skies did
It was second nature
To paint my own reality
Using the sky as my palette
Where butterflies tended to flock
Almost ritualistic
As nature would have it
At peak elevation
About to dive into my fears
I fell vertically into Dunn’s
Upon deeper reflection
Realizing the river flows right through me
Like blood that charts new territories
It was in me
As daring as a crusader
A bright crimson
Or similarly
Plumage of the scarlet macaw
The promise of colour taught me to face my fears
If only for the realization
That I was indeed alive
After all
I had taken the plunge
