Letting go is hard but holding on is harder. Based on my high school experience.

I couldn’t believe all I ever wanted was coming true

Summer was coming to an end and I thought I’d never see you again

We had all just graduated high school and would be of to different paths to

We reunited at one of the last graduation parties of the summer , which felt like a bummer

You had a girlfriend through out high school , but I was still in love with you

We shared the same cab ride home , be cause we lived within the same area code

You said my name with such warmth and shared with me all your worries and hurt

Excited to see you next week , I did my make up and had my best fit on

We sat at a friends porch that night and you stared deeply into my eyes

I thought finally the moment I dreamed of , but the girl next to me interrupted us

I knew she liked you , and as soon as I left to get more drinks she kissed you

I felt my heart sink , you told me sorry and that it didn’t mean a thing

We hung out one more time , I admired his beauty and hugged him tight

I realized I needed to let him go , because we were off to different roads.
