Limbo

A poem

Among the ruins

I found her

Weathered by life

Clinging to her past

And to a place,

That she no longer belonged

And no longer belonged to her.

She wanted to stay there

To lie beside her broken pieces

Claiming loyalty as her grounds

How could I argue with loyalty?

So I left her there.

Unhomed. Unhinged.

Floating around in limbo

Bouncing. Crashing

Repeating on a loop

Dying a little more each time

For years and years

And years

Until fear and limbo was all that she knew

Survival mode

Was supposed to be temporary

Not a way of life.
