Lighthouse

a poem about light and houses

By Published 5 years ago 1 min read

Light in Dark

There is a dark place ahead

But I’m not frightened

I sense it coming

I feel it’s damp warmth beginning to enshroud me

It is there over the horizon

In some tomorrow dusk will set

Along destinies path

A peaceful requiem

A finishing stanza to a life well sung

My climatic end

There is peace in finishing

To letting go and giving in

Knowing that the dark times are ahead

To the end of the light effervescing from one’s soul

They say blight bestows meaning

Gives vision and understanding

But they neglect the other senses

The meaning behind what I can see

What others can see and sense after

It is in the darkness that we notice the light

See it bright and from afar

A beacon

A lighthouse in the dark stormy night

Making path for the ships

Here we are at lands’ end

The end of the day

The beginning of someone’s tomorrow

Here I am burning out

For all to see

From frothy seas they will see me

Burning bright

Burning all my fuel in one last ditch effort to illuminate the night
