Light Worker

a soul assigned with the mission of bringing light back into the world.

By Tea MahaloPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I get my honey eyes from my mum

I get my olive skin from my dad

But the light inside of me?

I must have borrowed it from the sun

I smile so bright, you would think I’ve never felt pain,

but I’ve been through my fair share of dark nights, too many times to name

Like at my worst, when finding a reason to live, there was none for me

Watching my happiness run from me

Feeling like the birds no longer sung for me

til I realised though I thought it was the end, that life had just begun for me

And I’m just glad I stuck around to get to see what this empty canvas would become for me

And now I know that God did all of that on purpose

Cause I never knew how beautiful I truly was until I looked below the surface

I’ve always wanted to leave my mark on this earth

the same way the sun leaves marks on my skin

I never knew what I was worth

and now my soul paints it’s own colour in every room that I'm in

You see, I didn’t know why I had to come back in this lifetime,

until I started showing everyone where their light was when it was hard for them to find it

And if you’re ever running low, you can always borrow some of mine

I’m sure the sun won't mind it
