Light Breaks Water

a poem

The earth is still and silent

Golden rays beam

Reaching the soft current

Like threads of a seam

Silence ends

And shimmer shines

Blinding the lake

With a warmth that’s divine

Where shadows once stood

Curled and clung

A gleam now dances

The birds have sung

Each ray —

A soft insistence

A whisper across the deep

A story told in glittering tongues

Light breaks water to breathe

nature poetry
