Life is Fleeting

We are mere mortals,

maybe not, as ephemeral,

as fireflies, or moths,

but we are still specks,

in the long ribbon,

of Earth’s timeline.

We are just guests,

in this time and place,

as the Australian Aboriginals say.

It is all the more reason,

to give more attention,

to our loved ones,

rather than blindly joining,

the rat race to earn,

more material things,

in the hope of rising,

in socioeconomic ranks.

I certainly prioritize,

my little family.

Once I was ambitious,

not any more.

I had hoped to work,

very hard and earn a lot,

but in my circumstance,

when nobody else,

to take care of my kids,

I pushed my career,

to the back burner.

It felt right and fulfilling,

a glorious parenting,

as life is fleeting.

My goal is to teach,

valuable life lessons,

so that the children,

can fend for themselves.

Vulnerable now,

I will give them care,

but they will sprout feathers,

and take a leap of faith,

to dive into the sky.

Meanwhile we will explore,

the mysteries of nature,

and create memories.
