Life Is

Blue is the colour of the sky,
Not your heart.
Red is the colour of love,
Not what your eyes should see.
Pain is part of life.
Those around you
Should ease its burden,
Not add to it.
Hope is the friendships
That we have.
Those next to us,
Or across the world.
But life is not perfect,
Nor are we.
The one truth is
Time changes all things.
Friendships are not immutable.
Some grow from the tiniest shoot
To a mighty tree.
That shelters us from the storms of life.
Other sicken and rot in time.
Sorrowful as this is,
Fault does not lie in either person.
Rather the winds of change,
Bent them into something we didn't expect.
Such is life, friendships and love.

I have worked in the IT industry for over 30 years. Poetry grabbed my attention at an early age when I was going to elocution lessons and my teacher found that reading out poetry was perhaps the best method.
