Letting You Go.

Poetry about moving on

The words hurt so much

Even if they’re not said aloud

A thousand reasons came to mind

All of them begged me to leave you

But only one remained

I loved you more than anything

And that was the only thing

That kept me holding onto you

Even if I knew someday I’d have to let go

I don’t ever want to see that day come

But in this life, nothing is fair

You left and you’ve been gone for a long time

I felt like I’ve known you forever

But I really don’t

Years went by and I knew it was time

To let you go.

Even if my heart begs me not to

While my mind screams at me to do so.

Letting you go wasn’t easy in the end

But I can breathe now.

I am free.

From you.

From us.
