Let’s Kiss Goodbye and Move On

No need to blame the other

By Irina PattersonPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

My train of thought shoots off like a fast metro mover,

making me grab on the rails of reasoning

in its careening twists and turns,

when suddenly perching on the station of clarity.

. . .

It's so simple,

we've turned into two halves split by the great laceration,

the way an apple is halved by a sharp knife.

We eat our breakfast without saying a word,

With each bite, it's harder to swallow.

. . .

For if this is how it has to be, why waste energy pretending?

Let's eat quickly, kiss goodbye, and move on.

No need to understand why we've parted ways,

No need to blame the other,

For we have both been true to ourselves,

doing what we felt was right.

. . .

My train of thought shoots off like a fast metro mover,

For it is hoped that keeps me hanging on,

ignoring the allure of obliteration.

For if this is how it has to be, why waste energy pretending?

Let's kiss goodbye and move on.

. . .
