Let’s Go Pinching Apples
We can sell them at school 10 pence each

Let’s Go Pinching Apples
Let’s go pinching apples
from the neighbours’ trees
creep along the fence-line
soft and on our knees
One eye on the kitchen
one hand on a branch
grab a good red shiny one
and run before they glance
No one saw us yesterday
when we took that pear
you swore it wasn’t stealing
just fruit that needed air
We’ll blame it on the magpies
if they come to shout
say we saw a black-and-white
just pecking all about
Keep your hoodie halfway up
and zip it if they bark
we’ll stuff the loot in sandwich bags
and hide it in the park
I’ll meet you near the alley
with pockets big and wide
we’ll do our rounds in daylight
before the dogs are tied
Let’s go pinching apples
it’s not a proper crime
just two fools and a shopping bag
having one good time

Loved it. Not crime. I am one of those fruit pinchers/ foragers, if I get opportunity.
I'll join in, I love apples. Thankyou for sharing xx
