Let It Go

Where do we go from here

because I don't know this world any longer

This world is burning and drowning in fear

and the darkness is growing ever stronger

Longing for simpler times does no good

in the midst of randomness that abounds

To figure it all out would help if someone could

in a world of howling fear and its' wretched sounds

The bell tolls on the world

but they're all too deaf

Lost in this new world

of which soon there may be nothing left

***

Knowing what to do is not so hard

but having the strength to do it, I just don't know

Looking to the heavens for answers, my feet feel the grass from the yard

the world suddenly begins to slow

***

Nightmarish images flash before my eyes

feeling the pain of a thousand voices

Sad and alone a little one cries

while somewhere else someone suffers their choices

***

Like a light, extinguished, one voice quiets in the night

and I feel a little of that pain fading away

Not knowing in that home there is a ghastly sight

because there was nobody to come and save the day

Shots ring close

yet I do not flinch

Their familiar sound like the howl of a ghost

yet I don't move an inch

***

I feel them all around me

and I drown in their despair

Their stories they want to tell desperately

because their fates were never fair

***

I close my eyes so tight

and pray they would float away

Trying with all my might

They just return the next day

***

Where is the world I remember so fondly

and why did we let it go

How could we have acted so wrongly

and from here where do we go

Feeling it really strongly

wondering how to let it go
