let

(go)

By Sara Published about a year ago 1 min read

you want to own me

so i wear you

‘round my neck

in a string of purple.

i wear your clothes

and sleep in your bed

(on my side).

you want me to be yours

so i can never want

anyone, ever

because your hand grasps

my neck

and i cannot breathe

without you

breathing into me.

i reach for you

in my sleep

even when you are

not there.

i always think

i can leave

until i do

and come back,

head hanging.

you lift my eyes

to meet yours

and i see everything

i cannot escape.

your voice has become

the one in my head

and i cannot run away.

(the story of a girl who can’t let go.)
