Lest We Forget

All the lives gambled, chips played and lost, for a greater cause, but where is that cause now

A minute of silence

For those who gave their lives

Are watching us

Remember them in blood

Respect them with death

They fought to end

Once and for all

The Great War

Or so it was called

Until the next

And the next

And now we don't just remember them

But add names to the list

Every year

For every war since

Because there have been many

And will be many

They died and die

Each body a soul and heart

Stopped

Cold

In the name of peace

That never comes

Because those in power choose power

And those in fear choose to listen

Because letting others die

Is safer for the self

Safer for the wealth

Forget the others

Forget their health

And the families of the dead

Will remember them

So the rest of us don't have to
