Lessons from the trees

Give in to get out

And suddenly,

It didn’t hurt so much anymore

Train of thoughts on a paper,

Moving so quickly, my pen caught fire

and set my whole mind ablaze

And once the smoke cleared

my mind cleared,

And in the clearing my eyes could see,

The trees, my teacher

Soaking up sunlight, my healer

To photosynthesize in the mud I was dragged in,

Into fresh life.

-----

Instead of giving up I decided to give in,

Thinking about the universal laws,

Thinking that if up also meant down,

Then,

In,

Had to mean out,

And maybe I could get instead of give for once,

And so it was,

The environment that broke me had healed me

Because broken things put back together are not weaker,

They drip with more reinforcement,

Take up more space,

Tell the world that there is no real death,

No real ending,

Only life unconscious,

A thought in a pod waiting for its vessel.

----

These are two separate poems I wrote but they actually work so well together. Today I am so grateful for epiphanies and realizations and feeling unstuck. I am so grateful for my big feelings because when I hurt, I HURT. But when I heal, the energy radiates so far past my body, I can share that energy with others.

"I am so grateful for my BIG feelings," This sentence among everything has caused me pause. I have spent my whole life being told that I am overly emotional, too distracting, dramatic, theatrical when it came to my behavior. So I spent my life hiding behind the facade to conceal my BIG feelings. Maybe it would make me more acceptable. Your words have given me rise to know that my BIG feelings should be celebrated, appreciated, accepted. Not tolerated. Thank you for sharing a piece of you.
