Legacy

Alzheimers and Love

By kylie ArnesonPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Your memories curl at the corner of your mind,

a piece of you, you try to hold.

A flash of recognition as you find

a face you know, before it's lost to the cold.

Each day is harder, more exhausting to fight,

and our hands grasp yours, eyes a blur of tears.

we worry that you wont see tomorrow night

so we leave the room to hide our fears.

Your love, like a tree, will continue to grow,

your legacy, like the roots, spread out from you.

Even though it will hurt know it's okay to go,

and though your memories fade, your love will carry through.
