Late Night Thoughts from a troubled mind
Misinterpreted words never redefined
So once the meanings lost, we never seek to find
Yet we wonder why we aren't walking on sunshine
Why we aren't gliding in the moonlight
Cause we linger in the agony at someone else's delight
Why focus on the anger; What's the cause of this pain?
Is it that you feel lonely, or do you feel shame?
Are the clocks ticking in your head, driving you insane?
Or are you all put together and the world is to blame?
Is it really worth the wait, or will you rush it with dread?
So you can take a perfect portrait just to tear it to shreds
Then you can confirm that nothing makes sense
Or you can now deny that it was for the best
So tangled are your thoughts, have you said them aloud?
Is it too real to speak truths that you've found?
Or will you be fake like a porcelain doll
Sitting perfect and pretty with your back to us all
Will you live free, come and face all your fears
Or stay trapped in your cage and just disappear
Repeat day after day like it's all just the same
Otherwise break the pattern and the world's yours to claim
About the Creator
Michael Benhayoun
Writing became an outlet for me; My childhood wasn't easy, as I'm sure some can relate. At 8 I was adopted by my Great Aunt and Uncle who became my second set of parents. I was encouraged to write and now, it's how I say what can be said!
