The last leaf before winter
Clings to the tree with all its might
Even as the wind grows bitter
And the day turns to night
It shivers in the fading light
And holds on for dear life
Its fellow leaves have taken flight
But this one battles through the strife
It's a symbol of resilience
And a story of brave defiance
In the face of nature's violence
It holds on with pure reliance
For when the snows come tumbling down
And the world is white and still
This last leaf will wear the crown
As champion of the eternal chill
So hail to thee, oh leaf so small
Thou art not just a piece of tree
Thou art a hero to us all
A symbol of what we can be.
