Large Potential Potentially Trapped

Have I put on my own limiting cap?

I had a dream in which our back porch had changed

I had a dream in which our back porch was rearranged

When we walk in from the East, the staircase is on the left

In my dream it was in the center, what else was new, what else was next?

We had two large snakes in the room

Two large snakes that have been groomed

Over time they had grew

Yet one’s anger began to stew

The first snake was a python, yellow and white, reticulated

The other a green anaconda, where had its birth originated?

The green anaconda I found as a baby within our lawn’s grass

Both snakes began to grew from eating spiders, they both grew in size and mass

The snakes wouldn’t bother us, but they would make their presence known

When we needed to, we’d pick them up to move them, yet problems had already grown

The snakes stayed mostly to themselves they were never to intrusive

In fact the daddy long legs spiders were the ones that I wished were more reclusive

One day the green anaconda was slithering around

Its mass beneath it like a bundle of gears, its head lifted far up off the ground

The python was resting on a wooden post, wrapped around the railing

Not asleep, but remaining vigilant, its eyesight was never failing

Though snakes don’t have eyelids You can tell when they’re asleep

Sometimes their pupils will follow You, You will notice if their REM is deep

When it blocked the staircase, my dad picked up the anaconda from its bundle of mass

He set snake atop a bunch of boxes, then he went to tend to the outside grass

The anaconda sat there, remaining reserved in its spot

Looking like it was planning something, off deep in its own thoughts

One day dad and I were going to grill

So, the charcoal and the gas both had fuel that I needed to fill

When it comes to the back porch, we always had charcoal there

When I walked into the room, the anaconda was at the bottom of the stairs

During the summer it would rain causing our basement floor to have water

The anaconda would swim in it, acting more happy than an otter

I opened the door and the snake saw me, so it slithered up the stairs

Watching it approach me, with its head raised off the ground, NGL I was pretty scared

Knowing of their muscle, I knew that this was an animal that I did not want to fight

However, I knew anacondas weren’t venomous, but still had a nasty bite

Stepping back, I was cautious and so I closed the door

The snake the was shocked, then was mad, its behavior was rather poor

It looked at me and hissed, in fact it bared its fangs

Then it launched itself at the door, and hit the glass with a bang

The snake banged its snout against the door’s glass a maximum of three times

Then it grew frustrated and slithered away for a nap, the anaconda took a bedtime

Now the snake needed to stay warm, so it went to the radiator

No matter how small they start out, problems can grow, the anaconda’s an educator

When I found it, it was smaller than the size of a pencil, Ticonderoga

There was a reason the ancient Greeks called them serpents, the people wearing togas

Was the anaconda somebody that I needed to lock out of my life so that I don’t get bit

However, snakes are bad people, anacondas could be opportunities, ones that I could possibly hit

I like to think the snake wanted freedom to grow to its full size

I also like to think that it wanted freedom, so that it could live its full life

When I moved away my dad helped me pack

It’s true, even in my youth at a good job at times I can’t help but to feel trapped

Am I the anaconda? Or is that just my potential?

I should go do some more introspection, check up, and earn some more credentials.

I trap myself, but I am free, so I can do what I please

I’m not tied down to a job, nor am I tied down to a lease

I need to use my skills I’ve learned, and put them to the test

I’ll let my skills become my path, with patience, everything else will come to rest

I really liked the flow of this one and your interpretation at the end. It was a pretty cool dream; although I pretended the snakes were puppies for the sake of my sanity, lol. Great work!!
