Lanterns of the Soul
A Poem on Inner Light and Connection

A spark hums beneath my ribs,
small as a firefly, bold as a star,
flickering against the hush of dusk—
a quiet defiance against the void.
The trees lean in, ancient and knowing,
their leaves trembling in golden hush,
as if they, too, wait for something unseen,
some ember to set the dark alight.
Then—like a match struck in an empty room,
the hush breaks, the world exhales.
Color spills where shadows stood,
and every thread of possibility glows.
It isn’t just me. It never was.
You, too, carry a lantern unseen,
a flame fed by all you’ve dared to dream,
by the hands you’ve held, the hearts you’ve mended.
One spark kindles another,
until the whole world burns with wonder,
until the night itself begins to glow,
not from the stars above—
but from the light we carry within.
