Lanterns in the Rain

To find our way

Lanterns in the Rain

We lit lanterns though the rain was cruel.

You said the light would find its way,

and I wanted to believe that.

So we stood there, wet and laughing,

watching the sky swallow every flame.

The wind took them one by one,

yet somehow they burned brighter in the dark.

Maybe hope is like that, fragile but fierce.

Maybe that’s what keeps us standing.

I still light one every year for you.

It flickers, fights, and sometimes wins.

And even when it fades,

I swear the night feels less empty.

Some lights are not meant to last.

They are meant to remind us

that we can hold beauty even as it falls.

Let the light lead the way to whatever we may need to do. Good job.
