Lamps That Died Without Witness

When no one’s watching, even light gives

Some lights

don’t shatter

They just fade

Quiet

soft

ashamed

to have tried

The room

doesn’t sigh

or notice

It just grows

darker

A lamp

once lit

for someone’s return

waits

until it knows

they aren’t

And dies

without drama

without protest

We think

light fights

the dark

But sometimes

it just gives in

because

no one stayed

to care

We pass

those dying glows

every day

Never asking

who they waited for

or

why they stopped

We forget

even light

needs reason

to burn

heartbreak
