Lady of the Lake
A Poem from Miscellaneous Whispers of a Sharper Image

At the edge of the cliff,
All covered in white,
The girl stood still
With all her might.
Her life?
She thought
Is nothing but pain
Shot, after shot, she can't escape.
The cliff started to tremble
Rocks cascading down
Falling into the raging river
Down to her death below.
Tears started flowing,
Streaming down her cheeks
She took two steps back
And here's her final fleet.
The waterfall is misting
And the rocks are slick
She tripped and fell in no time
Her feet, the ones who slipped.
Grabbing onto anything
Anything to save her life
She fumbles with a jagged rock
And slits open her wrist.
Hanging onto her life,
She sends a needy prayer
But to whom? She asks,
There's no one there.
With one last breath
She loses her grip
Down
And down she falls
The water so cold
The wind like Ice
Her warmth was lost
As is her life.
