Narcissus imperator
The puffed up bullying, the incessant demands for respect,
the berating of those who dare to speak up frankly,
the punching down, the swaggering unconcern
for decency, prudence, welfare, for anything
that pricks against the slightest wish or whim—
King Narcissus only seems to want
unlimited, uncritical, unconditioned love.
What he really wants, really demands
Is unlimited, uncritical unaccountability.
