Killing Me Silently

Despair,

I want you to leave,

but you stay‐

By the day, you source my dread

and by night, you use time to tease,

turning everything against me‐

Poisoning my desires, and even the air in my lungs...

I have no choice but to wait for you to be done.

I can only wonder...

Who put this heart in my chest?

As you have turned that against me too...

but if I waste what little of my time with that thought,

you might just take my mind too.

Despair,

I want you to leave,

but you stay‐

By the day, stealing my enjoyment

and by the night, keeping me awake in your torment,

slowly killing me in your deafening silence...

peeling me by the shred,

and tearing apart all feeling

you leave me with nothing but the want to be numb‐

Having grown sick of feeling...

anything, really‐

everything.

I've sided with apathy...

as you have left me with nothing else,

nothing besides myself, but...

it's only a matter of time...

before you take even myself from me‐

although I fear you may already have.

Despair,

I want you to leave,

but, of course you stay‐

forcing on me your horror,

proving your title as "the silent killer"

as soon, in your favor, I will be just a number...

joining those in your history‐

it is in the most agonizing ways,

that your reputation is secure.

Time will tell in all of it's torture...

numbering the days,

counting to the last night I stay‐

knowing that, when my eyes to finally come a close

that, they may never open again.

That wonderful day would've come long, long ago...

if it were I that chose that date.

If it were my handwriting in the stone,

or my voice that decided what is to come and go,

my time would have come...

long, long ago.

But since it is not my choice

I can only wait for you to be done

Mr. Silent Killer

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
