Killer Doctor on Call
The Grim Doctor who snuffs you out

Killer Doctor on Call
He knocks just once
then lets himself in
old brown case
and a knowing grin
No uniform
no name in gold
just eyes too calm
and hands too cold
He pulls up a chair
by your sagging bed
says nothing much
just nods his head
He’s not one for pills
or polite concern
he’s the kind you call
when there’s no return
No soothing voice
no pulse to check
just that case of his
and eyes on your neck
He listens close
to the hush in the hall
then closes the curtains
and that’s your call
Your dog won’t bark
your clock won’t chime
he doesn’t work
on borrowed time
No questions asked
no papers signed
once he arrives
he speaks your mind
The neighbours say
they never knew
just lights gone dim
and morning dew
He leaves the same
as he came before
with dust on his shoes
and death at the door

Brilliant! I love the macabre!! You write poetry about so many diverse topics. It sets you apart from others. I am sorry I have read more. I've had a fried computer for a couple months and I use my partner's PC when I can. It limits my time online.... but I'm thinking I'll be able to get my own laptop in a month or two. Blessings to You & Yours.⚡💙 Bill⚡
