Keychain

I'll carry my keychain around

I remember you got me a keychain

I carry it with me through this pain,

and even though you're not actually with me

Thoughts of you still swim around my brain,

and I could drown in all the words I can't say to you

Right now

Until I can

I'll carry my keychain around

I touch your face in a photograph,

because now you're just a picture of what we had

At least you won't ask for my keychain back

I'll hold it

I'll keep it

You can be sure of that

I remember you got me a keychain

It keeps me dry in torrential rain,

and even though you're not actually with me

Thoughts of you still feel the same,

and I could drown in all the words I can't say to you

Right now

Until I can

I'll carry my keychain around

I love the power of objects and what they represent. I’ve had similar experiences..ironically making a keyring with someone way back in my school days.. Excellent poem Frankie! 😊👏

  • "and I could drown in all the words I can't say to you". That line was sooooo relatable. Loved your poem so much!
