Keeping the Christmas Secret
While Sharing The Spirit
Twas the night before Christmas
The kiddies sure make a fuss
pretending to sleep, awaiting Saint Nicholas
Closing their eyes, peeking through, just a little
excitement deeply stirs
dreaming of candy canes and brittle
Awaiting the daylight
The excitement grows stronger
making this eve, the longest of nights
As the AM draws nearer
Sleepless, watching the clock
listening for Santa and his tiny reindeer
While we with the family, on this wonderful day
Smiles and laughter, fill up the room
tearing open the gifts, Santa brought on his sleigh
*
It was the night before Christmas
I know you've heard that before
We'd appreciate your assistance
keeping the magic, surreptitious

Mom was expert in the cause. She kept all the stocking stuffers (for up to 8 kids) in individual bags, would make some excuse for having to go back into the house as we were off to look at Christmas lights & within a matter of moments have all the stockings filled & back out to the car.
Still very good work and quite inventive.
