Keep me safe

(Or not) // emotional abuse

By Olivia DurhamPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

keep me safe

“Don’t touch my face”

Bonding over gossip and designer drama

High class Handbags

“Where is daddy?”

Reverse protector

Power struggle

“Please don’t cry”

“It’s going to be okay”

Pills and silence

Bouts of unprovoked violence

Over burnt toast reasons

It’s okay, I love you too

Every season in a day

Blistering sun

Pounding rain

It all feels just the same

A daughters forgiveness

Can be stronger than your platinum voldka

But never tastes as sweet

Or bitter as guilt

It burns, your words

Empty eyes hold the fire

Watch you fall, get up again

Repeat the motion

It’s all you know

Don’t throw a half empty glass and call it a bitch for breaking

Half dead in your bed

It haunts me in flashes

A broken record trapped in my own personal hell

I hate you for what you did

But I forgive you for all the sins you repent to me face, or not

“Keep me safe”

I keep you alive

Throw a dime for the labor of my blood nightmares and sleepless nights and I’ll love you forever

Even after the drugs decay

Your poor troubled brain

A little girl in hiding like ashadow in the corner

But I am the child

And you are the mother
