Just Wait ‘til Mom Gets Home

By Cleve

Look what you’ve done in the bathroom

Toothpaste, brushes, and paper on the floor

And you picked up none of your clothes

Whose writing is this on the door?

You better straighten up

Just wait ‘til your Mom gets home

Is this jelly on the wall? And the door left open

Letting all the cool air out?

You guys are really pushing it

Trouble is in your future

Of that there is no doubt

Just wait ‘til your Mom gets home

Alright, who broke this plate?

Who hid the pieces behind the settee?

And I won’t accept the answer, “Dad, it wasn't me.”

Kids, you know better than this

Mom will be mad as can be

Not just at you, but also at me

Just wait ‘til Mom gets home.

The door opened, Mom was met with hugs and kisses

“Mommie, mommie” shouts of glee.

“We’re sorry Mom, don’t be mad.”

“Mad? Who's mad? Certainly not me.”

And she hugged and kissed them

Then she sat them down

And for Dad just a sigh of resignation

A hug and a kiss, but nary a frown,

vintage
