Just Once
Would suit me just fine
How do you ask life
Just for one break,
Is it so much to ask
Or is it always too late?
***
Will there ever be a time
When things will go right,
Will there ever be a time
When you don’t have to fight?
***
I don’t ask for a lot
But don’t even get a little,
I only want some happiness
And for my life to settle.
***
The pain I’m going through
Is becoming too hard to cope,
Pain both physically and emotionally
Is there never any hope?
***
Just one or the other
Would suit me just fine,
Preferably the emotional pain
I thinks it’s about time.
***
My heart is becoming fragile
And too easy to break,
Just this once I ask
I need peace for my sake.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
