They say just leave...
they don't see the holes in the walls
that remind me that they could be put
through me.
They say just leave...
they don't see the bruises
around my neck
covered up with foundation
because my own structure crumbled long ago.
They say just leave...
but they don't see
the moths in my wallet
because he only shares breadcrumbs
- always keeping me starving for more.
They say just leave...
but they don't see the handcuffs
of tiny, innocent, lives
he holds over my head
like a noose.
They say just leave...
if only
it were that
easy

Well-wrought, Ellie. If this is personal, I hope the situation fares you better in the future. If its reflective of difficult relations past, I can understand that too, and tell you that the way out of the prison in our head is through.
I am who I am, free and spontaneous, sincere and bright, open and fearless, taking gains and losses as they come, clear-headed and sensible, not pandering, not blindly following, not belittling, I am who I am, not refuting, not explaining, and not afraid of being defined.
