We were riding back home
after school,
when we heard,
fire truck siren,
saw police on bikes,
an ambulance followed,
somebody must be in distress.
Heatwaves raging,
not far from us,
wildfires burning,
vast wilderness being charred,
evacuation orders in place,
smoke in the air,
saw a dead bird,
the other day.
I told the kids,
in a world,
when stress is soaring,
where you can be anything,
just be kind.
Walk gently in the lives,
of people and critters,
show empathy,
regulate your emotions.
That’s it,
you are justifying your life.
No need of lofty,
monumental legacy,
just do,
what you can,
to diminish pain.

Beautiful so real :)
Yes, being kind is the least we can do. Loved your poem!
Exactly, just be kind no matter hard it may be. Good job.
