As Pesticides Killed Twenty Peacocks!
Yet another wildlife tragedy

That's a peacock, the national bird of India.
I often see them, in some parks in California.
They are happy and healthy,
as they strut on the green lawns,
and hop on the oak trees,
nobody bothers them,
but what happened in the country,
that gave them the national bird status,
is horrifying, total shame.
Last night, I read the story,
from a village in Karnataka.
Twenty peacocks were found dead,
carcasses littered around farmland,
both males and females.
Suspected of pesticide exposure.
Before that incident,
some monkeys and tigers,
had also died in that region.
It could be crops or water,
tainted with those toxic chemicals,
exposure to which turned fatal.
This is not an isolated incident,
but a vicious pattern,
that has happened, again and again.
It’s time to stop such wildlife tragedies,
and not act blind, not stay quiet.
I write this heartbreaking story,
in the hope of raising awareness,
to plead for educating farmers,
and enforcing strict laws,
so such crimes are not repeated.

Such beautiful birds male and female. What a shame and I hope they figure a way to stop the issue. Great work.
