First partying
and sleepless nights.
Now parenting
and sleepless nights.
We’ve always made a great team.

After fleeing the rat race of Sydney,
our peaceful life in Perth
has blossomed.
From the day I met you,
everything has settled
beautifully into place —
(let’s just pretend lockdowns never happened.)

I don’t have riches,
so all I can offer you is
poetry and caffeine.

To you, I know
it’s just another day,
but I couldn’t let it slip away.

My husband,
on this day that is your birthday,
I just wanted to say,
I hope to spend many
more of these
just-another days
with you.
