Just a Day in the Life
Valuable lessons learned
He dreams in mathematical equations amongst past lives,
Absolving his decisions of future consequences, gifting relief,
Guaranteeing a tomorrow of new beginnings,
Filled with promises, magical wishes amidst strong belief.

He rolls with the punches life throws his way,
Destined to learn lessons of a tortured outcome,
Water off a duck’s back, once the worst has dissipated,
But there’ll always be one that’ll kick arse, he cannot out run.
**
Each morning as the sun raises its head, he gives gratitude,
Granted another day to ward his best,
Making every minute count, knowing life is a blessing,
Ready to face every distortion, wrinkle, trial or test.
**
He smiles in the face of adversity,
Grinning when you or I would be scrambled in a heap on the floor,
He’ll never turn his back on a known enemy,
No, instead he’ll walk them kindly through the rear door.
**
He has an inner strength that glows foolishly,
A beacon calling for those that are driven by pain,
Like a firefly to a flame, they rush in blindly,
Adamant they can handle his solutions, they try in vain.
**
History has their demise sitting on repeat,
Trolling the minds of the forgotten battles, tried and tested,
Sword clashes roll over the airwaves of the valley,
While the hills covet the well rested.
**
Blood will be drawn here on the dawn,
A shower of life’s essence wasted upon this ground,
And although he’ll be the last man standing,
His lessons will be heartbreaking, long lived and profound.

So many lessons woven into this, with awesome imagery. I really enjoy the sharp, grounding effect of your words and the message you delivered home with beautiful clarity. Also love the line, "Water off a duck’s back, once the worst has dissipated" - just vivid and strong and empowering. Great piece!

I resonate with all of this except for showing the enemy the back door. I've always been the one to invite them in for something to eat while they do their worst. That probably explains so much about me.
