Just a Cheap Bottle of Make Believe
Vintage make’s it feel like years ago, yet it was just a year

Just a Cheap Bottle of champagne
The rain falls like stale champagne,
Flat, tasteless, a fizz long gone —
A refreshment full of lost hope,
Poured out, forgotten.
Inside, I drown in whispers,
Promises to love me —
Not kept, just dusted away,
Like a money-off label
Peeling at the corners.
A summer wedding,
Falsely advertised,
A bubbly start turned
Secondhand trash.
Smash the bottle,
Christen the ship —
But you’ll never sail in her again.
It takes two ingredients
To make a good vintage:
A strong crop
And a patient hand.
hold on is that just for wine?
We were neither.
Just a cheap bottle
Of make believe tormented

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
