Judas Kiss

Breaking Trust

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

I don’t know what hurt the most

The lies or the betrayal

Or the ease and nonchalance of

Your fervent Judas kiss

You knew would break me into pieces

Love created within the paper-thin walls of cheap motels

Walls that hold the promises of thousands

Of other indifferent lovers

Promises never meant to be kept

Yet spoken so with such passion

Words meant to conquer and win

Like a battle,

Like a war

Not love

Words used like plastic toy markers in a child's board game

Feigned love created from ego, pride

false comfort, and pretend compassion

Designed only to achieve a victorious end

Love is not amour-propre to boost self-worth and vanity

I don’t know what hurt the most

The lies or the betrayal

Or the ease and nonchalance of your Judas kiss

You knew would break me into pieces
