Joey
A parody of ‘Jolene’ by Dolly Parton from a Male Perspective
Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey
I'm begging of you please don't take her hand
Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey
Please don't kiss her just because she's tan
Your physique is beyond compare
With Rock hard abs and steely stare
Pure white teeth and dimpled chiiiiin
Your eyes have depths and girls succumb
To your charms like moisture to the sun
And I cannot compete with you Joey
She whispers your name when she's deep
In passionate throes and I weep
To hear your name come from her lips Joey
I get how you attract them all
With all that you have on the ball
And she's got the hottest bod around, Joey
Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey
We all know your builds the best
Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey
I'm begging you don't flex your chest
You can have any woman you want
But her loss my heart would haunt
She's all I've ever wanted, Joey
Man to man I have talked to you
My love life's future is up to you
So don't smile or flex your iron pecs, Joey
Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey
I'm begging of you please don't take her hand
Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey
Please don't kiss her just because she's tan
Joey, Joey

This satire was written after I watched an episode of The Voice a while back wherein the coach had a male singer perform Dolly Parton’s classic Jolene. Jolene is written as the perspective of a woman begging another woman not to take her man. This decision on the part of the judges struck me as a tad strange so I rewrote Jolene from the perspective of a man asking another man not to take his woman… Thus was birthed Joey.
