Jewel

Jewel

By LenaPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

When I was a child

Jewel was on the radio

Gushers waited in my lunchbox

Rugrats played on one TV

Apple computers were only at school

And my favorite outfit was torn out of a magazine

Vacation wasn’t on cell phone screens

but instead floated on pictures

found in your mother’s basement

covered in dust and developed in twos

Snowfall was magic

Marriage was so far away

Fortune tellers fit in my pocket

And we always wondered

where we would end up

Today while driving

a 90’s song

introduced me to myself again

I smile because

I have advice for her

surreal poetry
