Jesus, What Have We Done?

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

[Verse]

The hands of children grasp for crumbs

The tables stay barren while the factories hum

Smoke rises like prayers to capitalist thugs

Dear Jesus, dear Jesus what have we done?

[Chorus]

Every gun that is made

Every warship...

Every knife blade

Is a theft

Just a theft

Stolen from the hungry mouths

of the unfed

[Verse 2]

Hollow eyes watch as the sky splits wide

Rocket trails carve scars in the air so high

But no bread falls, Justice is denied

The hunger howls and never ever subsides

We're just digging our graves for when we die

all we can do is clasp our hands and cry...

Dear Jesus dear Jesus what have we done

[Chorus]

Every gun that is made

Every warship...

Every knife blade

Is a theft

Just a theft

Stolen from the hungry mouths

Of the unfed

Dear Jesus, dear Jesus what have we done

Dear Jesus, dear Jesus what have we done

God save us
