it was all yellow
extended version - Daily Poetry Challenge #1

shields lift and fall
making broad and bright bursting
light floods the empty cradle
and lifts me heaven-bound
lungs, mind, spirit, crown high
above the rains
above the clouds
that hold the smell of freedom
glowing but fleeting, mimicking
orchestral strings of birds finding tune
my fingertips scrape the clear blue
empty expansion
taste and see, purest purity
like honey from the womb
like petals that reflect the stars
like happiness medicating the soul
meant to be savored slow
absorbing slowly through open pores
soaking
inward
my body remembers my ancestral essence
to share space with the great star
equally alive
embodied at once
