It's Not Livelihood

But Death-hood

By Seema PatelPublished 6 months ago 1 min read
@Seema

Taking away my time,

and options to see

sunsets, hailstones, rainbows.

don’t say you gave me a job.

You took away,

my freedom as a human.

What will I do,

with that money,

buy things

I don't need?

To impress people

who must be shallow

if they evaluate me

by the purchased things?

I’m aware,

my journey is short,

I’m in mid-journey,

If I’m lucky

to live a full life,

why would I waste it

in a cold, scented office

doing work

that does not nurture

my body or soul?

No, I will not,

call it livelihood.

It’s almost death-hood.

Note: Modern job is slavery. The salary and designations are not compensation enough. I refuse to be bound by it.

I agree! I'd hate to work in an office!
