It’s Hard To Say Goodbye

Let them go with grace — their job is done

It’s Hard To Say Goodbye

We win, we lose, we start, we stop

We battle and struggle awhile,

Decipher the lessons you’ve learnt

In your experiences and trials.

***

Every person that we meet

Is there for a particular reason,

They will waltz into your life

Staying for years or just a season.

***

It’s all dependent on your needs

Don’t mistake this as your desire,

As they are both totally different

Needs not wants are what’s required.

***

People will be embedded in your life

Until you discover and learn why,

Then they’ll waltz back out again

At times without that goodbye.

***

There’s no point in fighting this

It’s important you let them go,

They’ve done what they come for

And deep in your heart you know.

***

Mourn them if need be

Spend the time you need to cry,

Heal your shattered heart

Feel each emotion that applies.

***

Do not struggle, just accept

This is not the time to deny,

Be strong, be brave, smile

Send them off with a goodbye.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

Aye. Accept what you cannot change. Karma cannot be fought, it only prolongs the suffering.
